Food Stains is a simple project and points to the importance of discipline and repetitive acts. Sometimes it is necessary to work on projects that may never go anywhere- sometimes the commitment to an action is enough. Food Stains began August 2009. Initially I was going to record a year’s worth of consumption as an exercise in discipline. Each page in the journal was dedicated to one day and I simply and discreetly rubbed a small bit of anything I consumed onto the page and made note of what it was. Longer notations accompany some entries and some simply note the food and time it was consumed. At the end of the year I couldn’t stop and continued on for a second year.
